Though his parts in this book are small in comparison to Eragon, his view of the war and the skirmishes he’s involved in are insightful. In between all of Eragons tale we hear how Roran gains his command in the Varden, and just how far he will go to protect his fellow soldiers. Oromis and Glaedr have chosen to join Islanzadí at Gil’ead while Eragon continues to the Varden at Feinster. He is shocked that they are going to join the Varden and the elves on the battlefield. Eragon goes to Oromis and Glaedr before he leaves and finds them ready for battle. Eragon names it Brisingr, and every time he says Brisingr the blade sets on fire. Eragon allows Rhunön into his mind so he can be her hands as she vowed never to craft another weapon after what Galbatorix did. Rhunön agrees to help Eragon make his sword. Saphira attacks it and after a discussion, they are given the ore neede to create a riders weapon in exchange for Eragon vowing to do something for her…. Again Eragon and Saphira try to find the weapon Solembum told them they’d find under the Menoa tree…. After the coronation, and Saphira’s fixing of the Isidar Mithrim, Eragon and Saphira travel to Ellesméra to ask their burning questions of Oromis and Glaedr - they also are bolstered by the truth of Eragons father. Saphira stays with the Varden to make the Empire believe Eragon is there.

The music is still there and annoying as the others but thankfully it is only a little at the start and end. I really do like him as a voice actor for this series, though I still don’t think Saphira‘s voice isn’t quite right. The performance of Gerard is as good as the last books. I love that we finally have a little of Saphira’s viewpoint as well - her names for everything make you chuckle and keep a little light in what could be a very serious book. The book follows Eragon as he gains more responsibility, it also follows his cousin Roran in his new role in the Varden army. The pace is faster than Eldest, which I’m grateful for.

These books need to be read in order to understand the storyline. Brisingr is the third book in the inheritance cycle.
